Nurse Extern
About The Position
Individuals in this job classification are under the supervision of the registered nurse and are responsible for the collection of assessment data, contributing to the nursing process and documenting care activities in accordance with OSUMC standards to deliver safe, efficient, effective, quality patient care. The Nurse Extern must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. This individual must utilize principles of growth and development over the life span; demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The Nurse Extern will participate in the plan for the provision of patient care as described in the Patient Care policies and procedures, and is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
Requirements
- Completed sophomore year or 2nd level of Associates degree program in nursing
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
- Ability to utilize principles of growth and development over the life span
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Ability to interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs
