About The Position

The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in a School of Nursing and has successfully completed two Clinical Nursing courses. When on duty, the Nurse Extern assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care designed to meet patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs. The Nurse Extern may also be cross-trained to perform unit Secretary clerical duties. The Nurse Extern may perform nursing practice interventions learned during clinical training and successfully validated by an RN staff member.

Requirements

• Completion of the first Clinical Nursing course within an accredited School of Nursing program.
• Current BLS Certificate.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

• Prior clinical experience in the area of expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.

• May perform unit Secretary clerical duties after cross-training.
