About The Position

Assists in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients. General Nursing Units care for patients age 15 years through maturity. Special Care Areas care for patients age 15 years through adulthood with high-risk conditions. Maternal Child Units include Labor and Delivery care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions and Nursery care for newborns until discharge. Pediatric units provide care for patients from neonates through age fourteen. The GI Lab cares for toddlers beginning at 24 months through adults. Behavioral Health and Geropsychiatric units care for adult patients and families with a holistic approach to emotional problems. The Emergency Unit provides care to patients of all ages, and the Acute Rehab Unit provides care to patients of all ages.

The extern must be able to work at least eight hours per pay period and may work assigned shifts in increments of 4, 8, 10, or 12 hours. The extern completes established position competencies within the designated introductory period and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited professional nursing (RN) program.
• Entering the final clinical practicum rotation in nursing school.
• Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab; a skills checklist may be used to validate experience.
• Have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire from ARC or AHA; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of hire or transfer if working in the Emergency Department or Behavioral Health Area.
• Able to work at least eight hours per pay period.
