About The Position

Assists in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to assigned groups of patients across various units, including General Nursing Units (age 15+), Special Care Areas (high-risk conditions), Maternal Child Units (Labor and Delivery, Nursery), Pediatric (neonate to age 14), GI Lab (toddlers 24 months to adult), Behavioral Health and Geropsychiatric (adults), Emergency Unit (all ages), and Acute Rehab Unit (all ages). The role requires the ability to work at least eight hours per pay period, with shifts in increments of 4, 8, 10, and 12 hours as assigned. The extern must complete established competencies within the designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, professional nursing (RN) program.
• Entering their final clinical practicum rotation in nursing school.
• Successfully completed a basic clinical skills lab.
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA).
• Must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position if working in the ED or Behavioral Health Area.
