Nurse Extern PRN Cardiac Nephrology
About The Position
TriStar Skyline Medical Center is hiring a PRN Nurse Extern for its Cardiac Nephrology unit. As part of the nursing team, the Nurse Extern gains hands-on experience across the scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate patient care and building skills for more advanced responsibilities while progressing through a nursing program. The role includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility, comfort, and hygiene; performing basic nursing tasks as competency grows; documenting care and communicating updates to the nursing team; helping patients and families understand care plans; maintaining clean, safe patient areas; and engaging in learning and career-development opportunities with a supervisor or preceptor.
Requirements
- Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of the employment start date.
- No experience required.
- No travel required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient comfort and hygiene.
- Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as experience and competency grow.
- Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
- Help patients and families understand their care plans and provide guidance for health and recovery.
- Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection-prevention practices, managing equipment, and keeping the environment organized.
- Participate in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with a supervisor or preceptor on a personal career-development plan.
