Nurse Extern I Surgical Per Diem Days
About The Position
The Nurse Extern I (NE I) is a member of the patient care services team whose primary responsibilities involve technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The NE I works under the supervision of a registered nurse, who delegates tasks based on patient needs and the NE I’s skills and abilities. The NE I reports deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. Specific patient care tasks may vary by unit or service line according to the patient population served. Students hired as Nurse Extern I perform the duties of a patient care technician or equivalent role.
Requirements
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course through an accredited school of nursing.
- Successfully pass all courses to remain in the program.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse, completing tasks delegated according to patient needs and the NE I’s skills and abilities.
- Report deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse.
- Perform patient care technician or equivalent duties.
