About The Position

The Nurse Extern I is a developmental float pool role for nursing students seeking broad clinical exposure in an acute care setting. Nurse Externs rotate across multiple units and support the nursing team while building foundational clinical skills. The role includes participation in a guided training and development program aligned with the scope outlined by the state-specific Board of Nursing. This is a non-department-specific float position.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited RN nursing program.
• Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
• Completed the first round of clinical rotations in full.
• AHA BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse and care team by participating in patient care activities, including observation and basic patient care.
• Report relevant information to the Registered Nurse in accordance with hospital policy and scope of practice.
