About The Position

The Nurse Educator (RN) at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education. The role supports staff professional growth, skill development, and competency, with educational programs aligned to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The Nurse Educator contributes to quality, safety, and service in patient- and family-centered care.

The position performs educational needs assessments, works with department leaders to identify and develop competencies, and creates education plans with the leadership team. It applies adult education principles and develops curricula and educational offerings using traditional, non-traditional, and innovative instructional methods, including technology and simulation. The role also documents attendance, course evaluations, and competency validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing degree.
• Four years of clinical practice in the area of specialty.
• Registered Nurse license: Arizona.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in another field.
• Specialty certification and/or two years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing educational needs assessments.
• Collaborate with department leaders to identify and develop initial and ongoing competencies.
• Create and document education plans with the leadership team to meet organizational strategic and operational initiatives.
• Use adult education theories and principles to support participants’ educational development.
• Author curricula and implement educational in-services, classes, courses, and programs based on identified needs.
• Use traditional, non-traditional, and innovative instructional methods, including technology and simulation.
• Submit education documentation, including attendance rosters, course evaluation documents, and competency validation tools.
