About The Position

The Noon Attendant provides adult supervision of children during the lunch period and helps maintain student safety and order. The role may require working in adverse weather conditions. The attendant must be able to remain calm in emergency or stressful situations, maintain a positive attitude when working with children, communicate clearly with children, and understand school rules concerning behavior. The position requires standing and walking, and includes regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The employee may also be exposed to airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat; the work environment is usually loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to work Monday through Friday.
• Must be punctual.
• Ability to remain calm in emergency or stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude when working with children.
• Ability to communicate clearly with children.
• Understanding of school rules pertaining to behavior.
• Ability to stand and walk; frequently talk or hear; and occasionally reach with hands and arms.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order among students.
• Report students who do not follow safety or school rules to the building principal.
• Ensure the safety and protection of students.
• Report strangers to the office.
• Report accidents to the office.
• Report unsafe playground areas and equipment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
