About The Position
The Noon Assistant provides for the safety and welfare of students during lunchroom and/or playground activities, helps minimize harmful incidents, and communicates observations or incidents that may affect the well-being of students and school personnel. This is a two-hour-daily position during the 10-month school year and reports to the Principal. The role supports students and other personnel in the cafeteria and on the playground. Work is performed under direct supervision using standardized procedures. The position requires a criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
Requirements

- No specific education level is required.
- Obtain criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
- Adhere to safety practices and recognize behavior predictors.
- Perform basic math; understand written procedures and written and oral instructions; write routine documents; and speak clearly.
- Work as part of a team, handle constant interruptions, and read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Work with a wide diversity of individuals and use basic job-related equipment.
- Meet the physical demands of significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and fine finger dexterity.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned duties on the playground and in the cafeteria to ensure student needs are met.
- Assist students with tasks such as retrieving utensils, cleaning spills, and finding seats to support a safe, timely, and healthy mealtime experience.
- Arrange food, beverages, condiments, and utensils at the cafeteria counter and snack carts so items are available to students.
- Report student misbehavior to teachers to provide information and support student safety and welfare.
- Supervise students on the playground, enforce playground rules, and intervene immediately when a child's safety is threatened.
- Assist other personnel as required to support completion of their work activities.
