About The Position

The Non-Ferrous Kiosk Buyer supports the organization by inspecting, grading, and weighing inbound non-ferrous materials and verifying that they comply with company policy and applicable laws and guidelines before receiving them. The buyer accurately identifies, grades, and prices non-ferrous scrap metals and communicates clearly and professionally with customers and team members while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. The role includes buying and grading non-ferrous metals from the public, assisting retail customers, validating identification and paperwork when required, and preparing materials for shipment. The buyer also conducts monthly retail inventory, operates small material-handling equipment and handheld tools, attends internal meetings, completes required training, and performs other related duties assigned by management. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and wearing required PPE while working or in the yard.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience requiring customer service to the public, vendors, or internal contacts.
Knowledge of metal grades.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to be flexible and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
Basic math and computer skills.
Willingness to learn, adapt, and be self-motivated.
Must wear all necessary PPE while working or while in the yard.
Must follow company safety standards at all times.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to frequently climb ladders; crouch and bend at the knee; stoop or bend at the waist; reach arms overhead; and twist and turn at the neck and trunk.
Ability to continually handle and grasp levers and dials, with continuous leg and foot motion when using pedals.

Responsibilities

Buy, identify, and grade non-ferrous metals from the public.
Ensure compliance with applicable state law and company policy.
Greet and assist retail customers to create a positive customer experience.
Grade materials and apply the appropriate pricing.
Validate retail customers’ identification and paperwork when required.
Conduct monthly retail inventory.
Operate small material-handling equipment, including a sit-down forklift and skid steer loader, along with handheld tools.
Clean and maintain the work area.
Prepare materials for shipment.
Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Follow company safety standards and wear necessary PPE while working or in the yard.
