About The Position

Faculty create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction within the framework of their course outline and subject. The instructor must demonstrate an appropriate level of expertise for the specific area or areas of instruction based on previous experience. This is not an exhaustive list of duties; other logically associated duties may be assigned. Activities must comply with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards, and reflect appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.

Requirements

• Applicants must have a referral to become an Ivy Tech Center for Lifelong Learning instructor.
• Applicants must supply a resume.
• Demonstrate an appropriate level of expertise in the specific area or areas of instruction based on previous experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Make optimal use of available resources to enhance instructional methods.
• Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, and required materials lists.
• Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that support student learning and create a positive Ivy Tech Community College experience.
• Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, and comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
• Know and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and other learning environments.
• Conduct all activities in compliance with FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards, while appreciating, respecting, and promoting diversity.
