About The Position

The Night Auditor performs the manager-on-duty role during the 3rd shift, ensuring the highest level of guest service. This role involves processing check-ins and check-outs, managing reservations, handling special requests, and providing information about the hotel and local attractions. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, understanding and implementing guest service recovery programs. A key responsibility is accurately balancing all revenue sources, completing daily financial reports, processing no-show reservations, and closing the financial day for the hotel. The Night Auditor also drives sales by up-selling rooms and amenities, follows proper selling techniques to maximize room revenues, and monitors room availability according to policies. Additionally, the role involves responsible use of equipment, adherence to cost controls to reduce expenses, and planning/organizing work duties to produce the required volume of work. After financial tasks are completed, the Night Auditor may work on additional projects, stock supplies, and assist other overnight staff. The position requires adherence to general work rules and department procedures, attending meetings, and maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with regulations. The Night Auditor must also follow all procedures for guest/associate incidents and be knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years prior guest service experience required, preferably in a hospitality setting.
  • Prior night audit or accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and communication skills needed.
  • Attention to detail, customer focused.
  • Ability to perform job duties in a fast paced environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates and responds to guests in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Provides the highest level of service.
  • Processes check-ins and check-outs, verifies billing, creates reservations, and processes special requests.
  • Assists guests by having knowledge of hotel property, local attractions, and hours of operation of hotel outlets and services.
  • Works independently or in a team to meet guest needs, and actively contributes to the efforts of other departments when necessary.
  • Understands and follows CSM guest service recovery program.
  • Accurately balances all revenue sources and completes daily financial reports.
  • Processes no-show reservations.
  • Prepares financial reports for managerial review.
  • Closes the financial day for the hotel.
  • Follows proper selling techniques and ensures strategies are utilized to maximize room revenues.
  • Monitors room availability, follows restrictions, and all booking policies and procedures.
  • Drives sales and maximizes revenue by up-selling rooms and amenities.
  • Follows CSM procedures when handling cash and processing financial transactions.
  • Responsible for proper use of all equipment and adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
  • Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing and prioritizing work duties.
  • After completing financial tasks, works on assigned additional projects, stocking supplies and assisting other over-night staff as needed.
  • Adheres to CSM general work rules and department procedures.
  • Attends all required department and hotel meetings.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with CSM, brand, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Follows all CSM procedures for guest/associate incidents.
  • Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
