About The Position

WNDU is seeking an experienced evening news anchor who is passionate about delivering breaking and hard news. The successful candidate will have strong presentation skills, experience covering breaking news and developing distinctive hard-news content, and the ability to serve as a newsroom leader who mentors young journalists. The role calls for a social-media- and streaming-minded team player who contributes beyond simply anchoring and reading the news.

WNDU is part of Gray Media, a multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta. WNDU serves northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan, produces more than 36 hours of live news each week, and is located on the University of Notre Dame campus. The station emphasizes high standards in news, entertainment, informational, and public-service programming.

Requirements

• Strong hard-news reporting skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad-lib during breaking news.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a good, clean driving record/MVR.

Nice To Haves

• Three years of experience as a newscast anchor preferred.
• Four-year college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Anchor newscasts, including streaming newscasts, as needed.
• Develop and report news stories for all platforms.
• Participate in daily editorial decisions and long-term strategic newscast initiatives.
• Produce elements of newscasts.
• Work on special projects as assigned.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
• Mentor young journalists as a newsroom leader.
