NEWS ANCHOR (EVENING) -WNDU
About The Position
WNDU is seeking an experienced evening news anchor who is passionate about delivering breaking and hard news. The ideal candidate has strong presentation skills and experience covering breaking news and developing distinctive hard-news content. This newsroom leader will mentor young journalists, bring a social media and streaming mindset, and work as a collaborative team player. The position is not suited to someone who only wants to appear on air and read the news. The role includes anchoring newscasts, including streaming broadcasts as needed; developing and reporting news stories across platforms; contributing to daily editorial decisions and long-term newscast strategy; producing elements of newscasts; handling special projects; and interacting with viewers and users on social media.
Requirements
- Strong hard-news reporting skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad-lib during breaking news.
- Valid U.S. driver's license with a good, clean driving record/MVR.
Nice To Haves
- Three years of experience as a newscast anchor preferred.
- Four-year college degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Anchor newscasts, including streaming, as needed.
- Develop and report news stories for all platforms.
- Participate in daily editorial decisions and long-term strategic newscast initiatives.
- Produce elements of newscasts.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
- Mentor young journalists.
