About The Position

This part-time, 1099 position involves reviewing newly built homes from a customer’s perspective to identify defects in workmanship, quality, completeness, consistency, and professionalism. Reviews take an average of 1 to 1.5 hours and are scheduled for a specific day. Reviewers drive to construction sites and may begin work any time between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Reports must be submitted electronically on site after the review and no later than 5:00 p.m. Reviewers use their own tablet to enter results online; training on the quality-review reporting database is provided. Reviewers are not required to walk on roofs or enter attics, and no tools, lights, or ladders are used. Reviewers must be available four to five days per week, Monday through Friday, for partial and sometimes full days. Days off must be provided to the scheduler at least a week in advance, except in emergencies. Compensation is paid per completed review: $75–$90 per new review after the introductory period, and $65–$75 per review during the 30–60-day introductory period. The posting states there is a $10-per-house raise when the introductory period ends. Drive time is not compensated; management will group work orders whenever possible to minimize travel between stops.

Requirements

• Own a cellular-enabled tablet from model year 2020 or newer.
• Have blue painter's tape.
• Wear a hard hat while on the job site.
• Have access to email while in the field, through a tablet or phone.
• Be able to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.
• Have experience using a mobile device and be able to resolve minor technical issues in the field.
• Be able to drive to sites around the area.
• Be detail-oriented and thorough, with the ability to work consistently.
• Be able to recognize home defects from a buyer's viewpoint.
• Be reliable and complete work on the scheduled day between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Be able to work unsupervised while maintaining thoroughness and consistency.

Nice To Haves

• Residential construction experience.
• Background as a general contractor, superintendent, or project manager.
• Familiarity with writing punch lists or general QC/QA principles.
• Home renovation or remodeling experience.
• Familiarity with fit-and-finish reviews or homeowner warranty walkthroughs.

Responsibilities
