About The Position

This 12-week Nurse Residency Program is designed for new Registered Nurses graduating from nursing school. It provides structured support, education, and hands-on experience to help them succeed in their transition to independent practice. The program combines one-on-one precepted clinical orientation, classroom education, skills labs, guided learning, and ongoing mentorship. As a Medical Surgical RN in this program, you will care for a diverse patient population, including those with acute medical conditions, post-surgical needs, rehabilitation requirements, swing bed patients, and those needing higher-acuity monitoring. Working in a critical access hospital setting allows for the development of a broad clinical skill set while collaborating with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and other interdisciplinary team members. The program emphasizes building confidence in clinical assessment and critical thinking, developing strong medication administration and patient safety practices, learning to prioritize and coordinate care, strengthening communication, gaining experience across the adult lifespan, developing proficiency with electronic medical records, and participating in ongoing education. Upon successful completion, residents transition to an independent Medical Surgical RN role with continued mentorship and professional development opportunities.
