About The Position

The RN provides professional nursing care under the ANA scope of practice and uses the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and support discharge, incorporating patient- and family-centered care principles. The RN provides quality care under the direction of the Nurse Leader in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures, recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN partners with patients and families, incorporates their input and goals into care planning, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

The position is on the fast-paced, 30-bed Post-Surgical Care Unit, which cares for patients following a variety of surgeries and procedures and manages lines, catheters, and drains. The unit describes its culture as welcoming, supportive of learning and teamwork, and focused on high-quality care.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role, and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate professional nursing care using the nursing process.
• Support patient discharge as part of the nursing process.
• Provide quality patient care in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures and under the direction of the Nurse Leader.
• Partner with patients and families and incorporate their input and goals into care planning.
• Develop patient and family teaching strategies and document education and learning in the health record.
