About The Position

Nashville General Hospital is seeking applications for the Nurse Residency Program, designed for new graduate Registered Nurses with less than six months of experience. This program aims to foster growth and development within the hospital. Nurse Residents must be licensed prior to their start date and will be considered eligible if they can provide official documentation of successful NCLEX results and a pending application for TN RN licensure (or a state within the enhanced nurse licensure compact). A valid BLS certification is required upon hire, with ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI required within 90 days of hire. ENPC is preferred. Nashville General Hospital’s mission is to improve the health and wellness of Nashville by providing equitable access to coordinated patient-centered care, supporting tomorrow’s caregivers, and translating science into clinical practice. The Nurse Residency Program directly supports this mission by nurturing future caregivers and empowering residents to translate nursing science into practice, positively impacting the Nashville community. The 9-month Nurse Residency Program (NRP) is for new Associate's and Bachelor's degree graduate nurses who have passed the NCLEX or have less than 6 months of experience. The program utilizes a preceptor model for orientation and integration into specialty departments. The goal is to help nurse residents develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for a successful transition from student to professional nurse. The NRP provides education, training, and support for safe, quality care in a collaborative environment that leads to positive patient outcomes. Orientation will build confidence and competence in clinical skills, communication, critical thinking, time management, and teamwork, meeting the standards and professional expectations of the Nursing Division. The program focuses on successful integration into the healthcare team, with guidance from Nursing Leadership, the Nursing Education and Professional Development Department, and the Preceptor Team.
