About The Position

Children’s Minnesota’s New Graduate Training Program combines didactic and precepted clinical experiences to help new graduate RNs transition from academic study to professional nursing. The program prepares nurses to coordinate and provide family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents using the nursing process. It emphasizes accountability for professional practice, including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members. Positions are in Med Surg, Critical Care, the Emergency Department, Operating Room, Neonatal Care, or the Float Team, at the Minneapolis or St. Paul campus. Positions range from 0.6 to 0.9 FTE, and shifts vary by position. Initial orientation is on day shifts, generally Monday through Friday, until the nurse and the manager, preceptor, Clinical Educator, and Clinical Education Specialist agree the nurse is ready to move to the hired shift and schedule. Orientation then continues on the hired shift and schedule, based on the customized orientation plan and progress toward competency goals. The cohort starts February 15, 2027. Interviews begin 6–8 weeks before the program starts, and offers are extended 3–5 weeks before the start date. Resumes must be included for consideration. Offers are contingent on successfully completing an occupational health assessment, drug screen, and background investigation, and complying with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
