About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a New Grad RN Resident for its 3 West Tower Complex Medical Care unit. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients undergoing general, breast, gynecology, pancreatic/liver, and urology surgeries. The caregiver provides direct nursing care with support from a success coach and participates in a one-year accredited Nurse Residency program featuring tailored learning tracks, online modules, simulation lab, and hands-on training. The position works days, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., with every-other-weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• Be a new graduate or have less than one year of RN work experience; alternatively, an experienced RN moving from a non-inpatient setting to acute direct-care inpatient nursing must have less than one year of current acute direct patient-care RN experience.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
