About The Position

The New Grad RN Resident works on Hillcrest Hospital’s 3 West Tower Complex Medical Care unit, caring for adult and geriatric patients undergoing general, breast, gynecology, pancreatic/liver, and urology surgeries. The caregiver provides direct nursing care alongside a success coach and participates in a one-year accredited Nurse Residency program with individualized learning, online modules, simulation lab, and hands-on training. The position is scheduled for nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN work experience; alternatively, an experienced RN moving from a non-inpatient to an acute direct-care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient-care RN experience.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document in patients’ medical records.
