  • Awareness of composite material characterization and mechanical testing, including coupon-level testing, test data review, and interpreting results against specifications and allowables.
  • Experience in aerospace failure analysis and root cause investigation involving contamination as a root cause or contributing factor.
  • Experience with statistical analysis for preparing design allowables.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certification.

Responsibilities

  • Author M&P specifications, work instructions, engineering dispositions, and test plans in accordance with aerospace requirements and industry standards.
  • Support development of processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Provide M&P engineering support for aerospace-grade materials, including aluminum, steel, titanium, and Inconel, and processes such as forming, extrusion, plating, coating, welding, anodizing, and passivation.
  • Provide design engineering support for mechanical systems and mechanism assemblies to ensure parts, materials, and processes meet applicable requirements.
  • Execute characterization and qualification efforts related to materials and processes.
