About The Position

Blue Origin is hiring a Fluids Engineer II to support the development and operations of New Glenn, a reusable heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. The engineer will design, analyze, and integrate aerospace fluid systems, developing pressurized fluid systems from concept through production. Work includes tube routing, component selection, and pressure-system structural and safety analysis for flight hardware. Relocation is provided, travel is expected up to 25% of the time, and interviews include a technical assessment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of relevant design experience.
  • Experience designing and analyzing pressurized and flowing fluid systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with tube routing.
  • Experience selecting components for fluid-system applications.
  • Knowledge and application of pressure-system safety principles, including hazard analysis.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as ProE, NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cryogenic fluids such as LO2, LH2, or helium.
  • Propulsion-system design and integration experience.
  • CFD analysis using ANSYS Fluent or similar tools.
  • High-pressure gas-system design above 3,000 psi.
  • System modeling using ThermalDesktop, FluidFlow, AFT Fathom, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge and application of industry standards for pressurized hardware, such as AIAA S080/81, KSC-SPEC-Z-0008, or ASME B31.3.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing for fluid components.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze pressurized and flowing fluid systems from concept through production.
  • Integrate pumps, valves, fittings, and instrumentation into broader fluid systems.
  • Design and release tube-routing layouts for complex aerospace applications.
  • Ensure the safe design, operation, and testing of pressurized and/or cryogenic systems and components, including hazard and failure-modes analyses.
  • Perform trade studies and create technical drawings and specifications.
  • Support integration, testing, and troubleshooting of fluid/structure systems.
  • Interface with manufacturing, quality, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, pressure-vessel codes, and/or industry or company standards for pressurized hardware.
