Materials & Process Engineer II

BLUE ORIGIN•Seattle, WA
•$99,201 - $138,880

About The Position

Blue Origin is hiring a Materials & Process Engineer II to support development and operations of New Glenn, a reusable heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. The position supports the VAST (Valves, Actuators, Component Standards, and Technology) team, with emphasis on nonmetallic materials, and works across components including valves, regulators, actuators, EMAs, quick disconnects, umbilical panels, and COPVs. The engineer will select, characterize, and qualify materials and processes; review and approve material selections for in-house and off-the-shelf components; and develop processes and characterize material properties and design allowables. The work applies experience with polymers and nonmetallic materials to issues such as compatibility, wear, cold flow, friction, and foreign object debris generation. It is a hands-on role involving time in test laboratories disassembling and diagnosing failed components, with general materials knowledge and curiosity also needed to address metallic-component issues. The role calls for a flexible, collaborative, detail-oriented, hardworking team member who is dedicated to quality and safe human spaceflight. Applicants must meet the stated U.S. citizenship, permanent-residency, refugee, or asylum status eligibility requirement. A standard background check is required; additional checks apply to certain job profiles.
