Exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated APP (Advanced Practice Provider) to join the department of Neurosurgery at the University of Rochester. The successful candidate will work with the APP Manager to see patients in our clinical office to decrease wait time for new general Neurosurgery referrals. After completing significant training, the APP will manage an outpatient clinic in collaboration with attending neurosurgeons, working independently and collaboratively with various members of the neurosurgery provider teams in an outpatient office environment. This role involves obtaining comprehensive history and physicals, documenting patient care in the electronic medical record, interpreting and ordering diagnostic imaging, and educating patients and families about neurosurgical disease and treatment plans. The APP will coordinate with attending Neurosurgeon’s offices, evaluate and manage established neurosurgery patients, manage post-operative patients in the outpatient setting, and triage and respond to urgent calls and clinical concerns. This position serves as the first point of contact for new neurosurgery referrals, aiming to reduce new patient wait times by managing an independent APP clinic and facilitating timely access for patients requiring urgent neurosurgical evaluations. The role also includes coordinating with referring providers, facilitating imaging, labs, and specialist consultations, communicating with insurance for approvals, responding to patient messages, and communicating effectively with patients, families, and care team members. Additionally, the APP will participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, assist in the development and review of clinical protocols, collaborate with leadership on access improvement strategies, and participate in continuing medical education activities. Adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and credentialing requirements is expected. The APP will work collaboratively with attending Neurosurgeons, Fellows, and Residents, participate in multidisciplinary conferences, and support department research and data collection initiatives.
