About The Position

The Neuro Rehab Coach works under the direction of rehabilitation therapists and nurses at SSM Health Neuro Transitional Center, a joint venture between Select Medical and SSM Health. The role supports people with brain or spinal cord injuries as they work to regain independence and return home. As part of the therapy and nursing team, the coach helps patients relearn everyday and self-care skills rather than doing tasks for them. The position is full-time nights, 6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m., following a schedule of three shifts one week and four the next. Every other weekend is required. Compensation is $20–$26.93, based on years of experience, with a $1.50 night-shift differential and $0.75 weekend differential. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current state driver's license in good standing.
Certified BLS completion; new hires should refer to the CPR Requirement Guidelines for New Hires.
Passion for serving and helping others.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in healthcare as a technician or direct care provider, or currently pursuing a degree in a related field.
Previous Neuro Transitional Rehab experience.
Therapy or Rehab Aide experience.
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA/STNA) credential.
LIMA (licensed med aide-insulin certified).

Responsibilities

Help patients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, cooking, laundry, making beds, loading dishwashers, and cleaning their suites.
Drive patients into the community for medical appointments and community activities.
Assist rehabilitation therapists with patient activities.
Assist patients with nurse-delegated tasks after completing provided training, which may include taking vital signs and providing PEG tube feedings.
Perform additional tasks as needed.
