About The Position

The Neuro Rehab Coach works under the direction of rehabilitation therapists and nurses at the SSM Health Neuro Transitional Center, a joint venture between Select Medical and SSM Health. The role supports people with brain or spinal cord injuries as they work to regain independence and return home. As part of the therapy and nursing team, the coach helps patients practice daily and therapeutic activities rather than doing those activities for them. The position is full-time, working overnight from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. on a rotating schedule of three days one week and four days the next, including every other weekend. Compensation is $20–$26.93 based on years of experience, with a $1.50 night shift differential and a $0.75 weekend differential. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current state driver’s license in good standing.
Certified BLS completion; new hires are subject to the CPR Requirement Guidelines for New Hires.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in the healthcare field as a technician or direct care provider, or being in school pursuing a degree in a related field.
Previous Neuro Transitional Rehab experience.
Therapy or Rehab Aide experience.
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA/STNA).
LIMA (licensed med aide-insulin certified).

Responsibilities

Help patients with daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, cooking, laundry, making beds, loading dishwashers, and cleaning their suites.
Drive patients into the community for medical appointments and community activities.
Assist rehabilitation therapists with patient activities.
Assist patients with nurse-delegated tasks after completing provided competency training; tasks may include taking vital signs and providing PEG tube feedings.
Perform additional tasks as needed.
