About The Position

The Inpatient Rehab Nursing Assistant works on a 64-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit serving patients with orthopedic, neurologic, traumatic, cancer-related, and other complex medical or surgical conditions that affect function. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the seven-day week, and nursing staff continue interventions practiced in therapy to support safe mobility and patients’ goals of returning home.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the assistant provides care according to the patient’s plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy. The role also includes safe patient transport, observation services, documentation, and receptionist and clerical duties that support efficient nursing-unit operations. This is a part-time night-shift position at Royal Oak Hospital, scheduled for 12 hours weekly, with variable workdays and every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
• Current CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safely transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
• Provide dispatch services and document the services performed.
• Provide in-person or remote-video observation for patients assessed as requiring constant observation to maximize their safety.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
