Nursing Assistant - EHD Inpatient Rehab
About The Position
Essentia Health is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant for the Inpatient Rehab Unit at Essentia Health Duluth - Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. The Nursing Assistant provides direct patient care and supports patients’ safety and comfort under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director, possibly with guidance from an LPN. The position works within its scope to meet applicable Joint Commission, regulatory, and accrediting requirements. The position is 32 hours every two weeks, with rotating 8-hour day, evening, and night shifts. Work is required every other weekend and on holidays. The role has no call obligation. Benefit eligibility may vary.
Requirements
- Meet at least one of the following: six months of nursing assistant experience; completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program; enrollment in the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire; verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program; or current registration on the applicable state nursing assistant registry.
- BLS certification, or ability to become certified within one month of hire.
- For those qualifying through the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course in the East Market (excluding Wisconsin): complete the course within 90 days of hire.
- Availability to work 32 hours every two weeks, every other weekend, rotating 8-hour shifts, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patients’ nutritional needs.
- Provide comfort care and other assistance.
- Transfer patients appropriately and safely.
- Take vital signs and complete recordkeeping.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients to promote healing.
- Work within the job scope to meet Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting requirements.
