About The Position

Chatham County Government is seeking a Network Technician II to manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure at the Detention Center. The role supports reliable connectivity and a secure network environment through infrastructure monitoring, user support, equipment repair and upgrades, network administration, and vendor coordination. The position may also involve teaching library users how to use computers and online resources. During emergencies or disasters affecting Chatham County, the employee may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.

Requirements

Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and at least three years of experience in computer network design and troubleshooting or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Experience supporting applications and hardware in a Microsoft Windows and networked environment.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Monitor daily the performance of file and print servers, routers, switches, wide area network links, and fiber connections.
Respond to user calls and work orders to resolve computer network problems in a timely manner.
Repair and upgrade network equipment, including servers, PCs, hubs, routers, switches, and network cabling.
Implement network infrastructure designs, obtain equipment bids from vendors, and install equipment.
Monitor, approve, and sign off on work performed by outside vendors.
Perform network administration duties.
Work with users to ensure timely response to and resolution of reported network problems.
Teach library users how to use computers, hardware, software, and online resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Report to work as part of a disaster operations team during emergencies or disasters affecting Chatham County, if required.
