About The Position

Geisinger is seeking an experienced Neonatal Physician Assistant to join the NICU team at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The service is centered around a private-room Level 2 NICU with 7 beds, located immediately adjacent to labor and delivery, and supports more than 2,000 deliveries annually. The role involves caring for critically ill and recovering term and preterm infants in collaboration with neonatologists, leadership, residents, and NICU nursing staff. There is no outpatient clinic. Flexible shift combinations are available, including 8-, 16-, and 24-hour shifts. The position requires a master's degree in Physician Assistant studies, Basic Life Support certification, and certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Requirements

Must be an experienced Neonatal Physician Assistant.
Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies.
Basic Life Support certification.
Certified Physician Assistant credential from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Responsibilities

Attend deliveries and manage the delivery room for infants younger than 35 weeks and other high-risk indications.
Admit patients, including obtaining histories and performing physical examinations.
Assess and provide ongoing management for current NICU patients.
Perform intubation.
Place umbilical lines.
Place chest tubes.
Perform arterial punctures.
Place arterial lines.
Manage ventilators.
Perform other applicable duties.
