About The Position

Alma School District is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher for the 2026/27 school year. This position is a 190-day contract role, reporting to the Principal. The Music Teacher will be responsible for fostering musical knowledge and skills in students, managing the classroom effectively, and contributing to the school community through performances and activities. Requirements

• Holds an Arkansas teaching license within the range of K-6
• Sound musical knowledge
• The ability to interpret various styles of music
• Strong leadership and listening skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills
• A passion for music; is patient, creative, and assertive
• Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activities
• Assist in performances and rehearsals

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or a related field is preferred
• Committed to multiple days of professional development regarding curriculum specific to the grade level; often involves several weeks during the summer months

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and engaging classroom environment
• Create engaging, active lesson plans to promote student mastery
• Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress
• Maintain professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth, curriculum development opportunities, and Professional Learning Communities
• Supervises students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day
• Maintains professional competence by participating in continuous professional growth, curriculum development opportunities, Professional Learning Communities, Response to Intervention teams, and other leadership collaborative teams.
• Shares in the sponsorship of student activities such as content projects, promotional events, as well as faculty committees and projects
• Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan
• Maintains accurate records of student progress/grades
• Performs other duties as assigned.
