About The Position

Responsible for the daily operations of the food and beverage outlets. This role directly supervises bartenders, beverage servers, porters, hosts, food runners, server assistants, F&B outlet attendants, and steakhouse servers and bartenders. The position involves managing costs, ensuring product quality, leading a team, and maintaining a positive work environment. The supervisor is also responsible for departmental compliance with regulations and policies, guest service standards, and risk management within their area of operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employee of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission and Indiana Horse Racing Commission.
  • Must have a beverage permit.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Periodically access personnel information and daily receipts information.
  • Requires access to general areas, outlet areas, and food storage areas of the gaming facility.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled.
  • Check schedules daily to learn of any changes necessary to accommodate unplanned business conditions.
  • Assist in controlling the cost of sales, labor, and profitability for the department.
  • Read, understand, and practice all policies and procedures as outlined in the Team member Handbook.
  • Take appropriate action to report any policy violations or problems as outlined in the handbook, either to the supervisor/manager or the Human Resources Department.
  • Make suggestions to appropriate supervisor/manager regarding any suggestions for improving guest service, department or job efficiency.
  • Ensure that all food and beverage products served meet the established specifications and standards.
  • Run pre-shift meetings.
  • Assign workstations to team members prior to their shift.
  • Lead team members by creating a positive, supportive environment where talents, skills, and trade practices are exchanged, practiced, and enhanced.
  • Assist in the development and administer departmental operating budget.
  • Enforce all appearance and uniform guidelines.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with all regulatory, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate with team members regularly to facilitate the effective flow of communication throughout the company.
  • Ensure that exceptional guest service standards are being utilized throughout the department and that appropriate actions are being taken to correct any noted deficiencies.
  • Conduct daily walk-through inspections of all assigned service areas to ensure that those areas are secure and in proper operating order.
  • Report to manager any items requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Pay particular attention to safety related matters and report such items immediately. If dangerous, take precautions to prevent injury until help arrives to respond to the situation.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, safe and comfortable work environment for team members and guests.
  • Solicit and respond to guest feedback by direct interaction, comment cards, etc.
  • Ensure all revenue is captured and reported in an accurate and relevant manner.
  • Abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.
  • Manage risk factors within the company department or division employed, in such a way as to eliminate company exposure to insurance claims and legal/court challenges.
  • Ensure that all company, department or division activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
