About The Position

The MT/MLT/Laboratory Scientist works in the Central Laboratory - Molecular in Hammond, Indiana. The position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a weekend and/or holiday rotation.

The role is responsible for processing specimens, performing tests, and reporting results. Testing may include waived, moderate, and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director. The employee reports results according to established procedures, participates in quality control procedures, and follows departmental quality assurance and quality management standards and applicable requirements from JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agencies. Specimen collection is performed as necessary.

Requirements

• For MLT qualification: an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• For MT qualification: a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens.
• Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director.
• Report results of all tests performed according to established procedures.
• Participate fully in quality control procedures.
• Comply with departmental quality assurance and quality management standards and applicable JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agency requirements.
• Perform specimen collection as necessary.
