About The Position

The MT/MLT/Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, performing tests, and reporting test results. Testing may include waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests as authorized by the Director. The role reports all test results according to established procedures and participates in quality control procedures, while complying with departmental quality assurance and quality management standards and applicable JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agency requirements. Specimen collection is performed as necessary.

This position is based at Ascension Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. It is listed as 40 hours per week, with a 10:00 PM–6:30 AM shift and weekend and/or holiday rotation.

Requirements

• For the MLT qualification: an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• For the MT qualification: a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training is preferred for candidates with a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Responsibilities
