About The Position

The MT/MLT/Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, performing tests, and reporting test results. Testing may include waived, moderate, and high complexity tests as authorized by the Director. The role reports results according to established procedures, participates in quality control procedures, and complies with departmental quality assurance and quality management standards, including requirements from JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other applicable agencies. Specimen collection is performed as necessary.

The position is based at Ascension St. Joseph in Chicago and is listed as 40 hours per week with an FTE of 1.0. The posted shift is 4:00 AM–12:30 PM, with rotating shifts and weekend and/or holiday rotation. Requirements

• For the MLT qualification: an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• For the MT qualification: a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training is preferred for candidates with a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Responsibilities
