About The Position

The MT/MLT/Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, performing tests, and reporting test results. Testing may include waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests as authorized by the Director. The role reports test results according to established procedures, participates in quality-control procedures, and complies with departmental quality-assurance and quality-management standards and applicable requirements from JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agencies. Specimen collection is performed as necessary.

The position is at Holy Cross Hospital, 2701 W. 68th St., Chicago, Illinois. The listed shift is 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with weekend and/or holiday rotation, and the position is 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week).

Requirements

• For MLT: Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
• For MT: Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college or university, or a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of pertinent full-time clinical laboratory experience or training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens.
• Perform and report test results according to established procedures.
• Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing as authorized by the Director.
• Participate fully in quality-control procedures.
• Comply with departmental quality-assurance and quality-management standards and applicable JCAHO, CAP, CLIA, and other agency requirements.
• Perform specimen collection as necessary.
