About The Position

Agile Defense is hiring an MSS Developer Engineer to build and maintain mission-critical analytics and applications supporting J7 mission workflows at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. The role develops operator-facing dashboards, applications, decision surfaces, self-service capabilities, and automated workflows that deliver timely, accurate insights to stakeholders. The developer engineers data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack; integrates external data sources; and supports AI/AIP workflows with well-modeled data and operationally useful model outputs. The role also creates visualizations and interactive tools, designs alerting and monitoring systems, helps establish mission KPIs, and optimizes data models, queries, caching, and aggregation for reliable performance at scale. Responsibilities also include day-to-day operator support, contributing reusable platform content, documenting data sources and analytical methodologies, supporting validation of the FDE&T model for potential expansion, and staying current with MSS and Palantir technologies. The position requires onsite work in a SCIF. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold an active Secret clearance at minimum; some assignments may require obtaining and maintaining a higher-level clearance, including TS/SCI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative discipline; extensive Palantir experience may substitute.
  • At least 4 years of software or data engineering experience; data analysis or data science experience is also considered.
  • At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or MSS.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, applications, or pipelines for operational end users.
  • Working proficiency in ontology design and pipeline authoring using PySpark, Code Repositories, or Pipeline Builder.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to work onsite in a SCIF.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Palantir FDE/FDSE experience or experience in a comparable customer-embedded role.
  • Hands-on MSS experience.
  • Exposure to AIP agent or large language model workflows.
  • Familiarity with DoD data environments and classified networks.
  • Prior Combatant Command support.
  • Solid Python and SQL skills, with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operator-facing dashboards, applications, and decision surfaces aligned to J7 mission workflows.
  • Create self-service capabilities that enable operators to explore data independently.
  • Build automated workflows that deliver timely insights to stakeholders across the directorate.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack.
  • Integrate external data sources into a well-modeled data foundation.
  • Support AI/AIP workflows by ensuring data is well modeled and model outputs are presented in operationally useful ways.
  • Translate mission leaders' analytical needs into technical solutions.
  • Create data visualizations and interactive tools that communicate insights and let operators explore data and scenarios.
  • Design alerting and monitoring systems to identify mission opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish KPIs and success metrics for mission performance.
  • Optimize data models and queries, and implement caching and aggregation strategies for dashboard and application performance.
  • Build scalable MSS solutions for growing data volumes and user bases.
  • Provide day-to-day operator support and escalate complex platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute reusable platform content, including ontology patterns, dashboard templates, and integration recipes.
  • Document data sources, metric definitions, and analytical methodologies.
  • Support validation of the FDE&T model for potential extension to additional Combatant Commands, Service components, and functional commands.
  • Stay current with MSS and Palantir technologies and advocate for tools and approaches that improve mission analytics.
