About The Position

Agile Defense is hiring an MSS Developer Engineer to build and maintain mission-critical analytics and applications supporting J7 mission workflows at Scott AFB. The role develops operator-facing dashboards, applications, decision surfaces, self-service capabilities, and automated workflows that deliver timely insights while ensuring accurate and consistent data across deliverables. The developer engineers data pipelines, ontology, access controls, and integrations on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack. They support AI/AIP workflows with a well-modeled data foundation and operationally useful presentation of model outputs, working with mission leaders to translate analytical needs into technical solutions. The role also creates visualizations, interactive tools, alerting and monitoring systems, and performance metrics to support data-driven decisions. The position optimizes data models, queries, caching, and aggregation for reliable performance and builds scalable solutions. It includes day-to-day operator support, documentation, reusable platform content, validation of the FDE&T model for possible extension to other commands, and keeping current with MSS/Palantir technologies. The role must be performed onsite in a SCIF. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have at least an active Secret clearance; some assignments may require higher-level clearances, including TS/SCI, which candidates must be able to obtain and maintain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative discipline; extensive Palantir experience may substitute.
  • At least 4 years of software or data engineering experience; data analysis or data science experience is also considered.
  • At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or MSS.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, applications, or pipelines for operational end users.
  • Working proficiency in ontology design and pipeline authoring using PySpark, Code Repositories, or Pipeline Builder.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess at least an active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite in a SCIF.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Palantir FDE/FDSE or comparable customer-embedded role experience.
  • Hands-on MSS experience.
  • Exposure to AIP agents or large language model workflows.
  • Familiarity with DoD data environments and classified networks.
  • Prior Combatant Command support.
  • Solid Python and SQL skills, with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operator-facing dashboards, applications, and decision surfaces aligned to J7 mission workflows.
  • Create self-service capabilities that enable operators to explore data independently.
  • Build automated workflows that deliver timely insights to stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack.
  • Integrate external data sources into a well-modeled data foundation.
  • Support AI/AIP workflows with a well-modeled data foundation and surface model outputs in operationally useful ways.
  • Partner with mission leaders to understand analytical needs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Create data visualizations and interactive tools that help operators explore insights and scenarios.
  • Design alerting and monitoring systems to identify mission opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish KPIs and success metrics.
  • Optimize data models and queries; implement caching and aggregation strategies for dashboard and application performance.
  • Build scalable MSS solutions for growing data volumes and user bases.
  • Provide day-to-day operator support and escalate complex platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute reusable platform content, including ontology patterns, dashboard templates, and integration recipes.
  • Document data sources, metric definitions, and analytical methodologies.
  • Support validation of the FDE&T model for potential extension to additional Combatant Commands, Service components, and functional commands.
  • Stay current with MSS/Palantir technologies and advocate for tools and approaches that improve mission analytics.
