About The Position

Agile Defense is hiring an MSS Developer to build and maintain mission-critical analytics and applications supporting J7 mission workflows. The role develops operator-facing dashboards, applications, decision surfaces, self-service data exploration capabilities, and automated workflows that deliver timely insights. It also ensures accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables. The developer engineers data pipelines, ontology, access controls, and integrations on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack. The position supports a well-modeled data foundation for AI/AIP workflows and presents model outputs in operationally useful ways. The developer partners with mission leaders to translate analytical needs into technical solutions and creates visualizations, interactive tools, alerts, monitoring systems, KPIs, and success metrics that support data-driven decisions. The role optimizes data models and queries, applies caching and aggregation strategies, scales solutions as data volumes and user bases grow, and provides day-to-day operator support while escalating complex platform issues to senior engineers. Additional work includes contributing reusable platform content, documenting data sources and analytical methods, supporting validation of the FDE&T model for potential extension to other commands, and staying current with MSS and Palantir technologies. The position is based at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and requires onsite work in a SCIF. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold an active Secret clearance at minimum; higher-level clearances, including TS/SCI, may be required depending on assignment and must be obtainable and maintainable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative discipline; extensive Palantir experience may substitute.
  • At least 4 years of software or data engineering experience; data analysis or data science experience is also considered.
  • At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or MSS.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, applications, or pipelines for operational end users.
  • Working proficiency in ontology design and pipeline authoring using PySpark, Code Repositories, or Pipeline Builder.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance; the position requires U.S. citizenship and at least an active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite in a SCIF.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Palantir FDE/FDSE or comparable customer-embedded role.
  • Hands-on MSS experience.
  • Exposure to AIP agents or large language model workflows.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense data environments and classified networks.
  • Prior Combatant Command support.
  • Solid Python and SQL skills, with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operator-facing dashboards, applications, and decision surfaces aligned to J7 mission workflows.
  • Create self-service capabilities that allow operators to explore data independently.
  • Build automated workflows that deliver timely insights to directorate stakeholders.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack.
  • Integrate external data sources into a well-modeled data foundation.
  • Support AI/AIP workflows with a well-modeled data foundation and surface model outputs in operationally useful ways.
  • Partner with mission leaders to understand analytical needs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Create data visualizations that communicate complex insights to diverse audiences.
  • Build interactive tools for operators to drill down into data and explore scenarios.
  • Design alerting and monitoring systems that identify mission opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish KPIs and success metrics for mission performance.
  • Develop efficient data models and query optimization strategies for reliable reporting.
  • Implement caching and aggregation strategies to optimize dashboard and application performance.
  • Build scalable MSS solutions for growing data volumes and user bases.
  • Provide day-to-day operator support and escalate complex platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute reusable platform content, including ontology patterns, dashboard templates, and integration recipes.
  • Document data sources, metric definitions, and analytical methodologies.
  • Support validation of the FDE&T model for possible extension to additional Combatant Commands, Service components, and functional commands.
  • Stay current with MSS and Palantir technologies and advocate for tools and approaches that improve mission analytics.
