About The Position

Agile Defense is hiring an MSS Developer Engineer to build and maintain mission-critical analytics and applications for J7 mission workflows at SOUTHCOM HQ in Doral, Florida. The role develops operator-facing dashboards, applications, decision surfaces, self-service data exploration capabilities, and automated workflows that deliver timely insights. It also ensures data accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables. The engineer develops and maintains data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack; integrates external data sources into a well-modeled data foundation; and supports AI/AIP workflows by ensuring data is properly modeled and outputs are useful in operational settings. The role partners with mission leaders to translate analytical needs into technical solutions, creates visualizations and interactive tools, and designs alerting and monitoring systems. The position also focuses on performance and scalability through efficient data models, query optimization, caching, and aggregation strategies. It includes day-to-day operator support, documenting data sources and analytical methods, contributing reusable platform content, supporting validation of the FDE&T model for potential extension to other commands, and keeping current with MSS and Palantir technologies. The position requires onsite work in a SCIF. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and have at least an active Secret security clearance; some project assignments may require obtaining and maintaining a higher-level clearance, including TS/SCI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative discipline; extensive Palantir experience may substitute.
  • At least 4 years of software or data engineering experience; data analysis or data science experience is also considered.
  • At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or MSS.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, applications, or pipelines for operational end users.
  • Working proficiency in ontology design and pipeline authoring using PySpark, Code Repositories, or Pipeline Builder.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance; the posting specifies at least an active Secret clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to work onsite in a SCIF.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Palantir FDE/FDSE or comparable customer-embedded role.
  • Hands-on MSS experience.
  • Exposure to AIP agent or large language model workflows.
  • Familiarity with DoD data environments and classified networks.
  • Prior Combatant Command support.
  • Solid Python and SQL skills, with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operator-facing dashboards, applications, and decision surfaces aligned to J7 mission workflows.
  • Create self-service capabilities that enable operators to explore data independently.
  • Build automated workflows that deliver timely insights to stakeholders across the directorate.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack.

  • Ensure AI/AIP workflows have a well-modeled data foundation and that model outputs are surfaced in operationally useful ways.
  • Partner with mission leaders to understand analytical needs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Create data visualizations that communicate complex insights to diverse audiences.
  • Build interactive tools that let operators drill down into data and explore scenarios.
  • Design alerting and monitoring systems that proactively identify mission opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish KPIs and success metrics that drive mission performance.
  • Develop efficient data models and query optimization strategies for fast, reliable reporting.
  • Implement caching and aggregation strategies to support dashboard and application performance.
  • Build scalable MSS solutions that can handle growing data volumes and user bases.
  • Provide day-to-day operator support and escalate complex platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute reusable platform content, including ontology patterns, dashboard templates, and integration recipes, to support continuous curriculum refresh.
  • Document data sources, metric definitions, and analytical methodologies for organizational knowledge.
