About The Position

Agile Defense is hiring an MSS Developer Engineer to build and maintain mission-critical analytics and applications supporting J7 mission workflows at Camp H.M. Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii. The role develops operator-facing dashboards, applications, decision surfaces, automated workflows, and self-service capabilities that help users explore data and make informed decisions. It also engineers data pipelines, ontology, access controls, and integrations across MSS and the underlying Palantir stack, including preparation of data foundations for AI/AIP workflows. The developer creates visualizations, interactive tools, alerting and monitoring systems, and performance metrics; optimizes data models and reporting; and builds scalable solutions for growing data volumes and user bases. The role provides day-to-day operator support, contributes reusable platform content and documentation, supports validation of the FDE&T model for possible extension to other commands, and stays current with MSS and Palantir technologies. The position requires onsite work in a SCIF. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with at least an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain and maintain higher-level clearances if required by assignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a quantitative discipline; extensive Palantir experience may substitute.
  • At least 4 years of software or data engineering experience; data analysis or data science experience is also considered.
  • At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, AIP, or MSS.
  • Demonstrated experience building dashboards, applications, or pipelines for operational end users.
  • Working proficiency in ontology design and pipeline authoring using PySpark, Code Repositories, or Pipeline Builder.
  • Active U.S. government security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to work onsite in a SCIF.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain higher-level clearances, including TS/SCI, if required based on project assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Palantir FDE/FDSE or comparable customer-embedded role.
  • Hands-on MSS experience.
  • Exposure to AIP agent or large language model workflows.
  • Familiarity with DoD data environments and classified networks.
  • Prior Combatant Command support.
  • Solid Python and SQL skills, with familiarity in JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operator-facing dashboards, applications, and decision surfaces aligned to J7 mission workflows.
  • Create self-service capabilities that enable operators to explore data independently.
  • Build automated workflows that deliver timely insights to directorate stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across MSS deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ontology, and access controls on MSS and the underlying Palantir stack.
  • Integrate external data sources into a well-modeled data foundation.
  • Prepare data foundations for AI/AIP workflows and surface model outputs in operationally useful ways.
  • Translate mission leaders’ analytical needs into technical solutions.
  • Create data visualizations and interactive tools that communicate complex insights and support exploration of data and scenarios.
  • Design alerting and monitoring systems to identify mission opportunities and risks proactively.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish KPIs and success metrics for mission performance.
  • Develop efficient data models and query optimization strategies for fast, reliable reporting.
  • Implement caching and aggregation strategies to optimize dashboard and application performance.
  • Build scalable MSS solutions that support growing data volumes and user bases.
  • Provide day-to-day operator support and escalate complex platform issues to senior engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute reusable platform content, such as ontology patterns, dashboard templates, and integration recipes, to support continuous curriculum refresh.
  • Document data sources, metric definitions, and analytical methodologies.
  • Support validation of the FDE&T model for potential extension to additional Combatant Commands, Service components, and functional commands.
  • Stay current with MSS and Palantir technologies and advocate for tools and approaches that improve mission analytics.
