The Mountain Safety position assists Ski Patrol with enforcing on-hill safe skiing and riding policies. Staff are primarily scheduled on Saturdays, holidays—including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day—and other peak, high-traffic days, based on operational needs and employee availability. External employees must commit to at least 15 shifts per winter operating season. Internal employees working Mountain Safety and other departments must commit to at least 10 Mountain Safety shifts and 15 total shifts per season. Shifts run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role promotes guest safety by educating guests about the Skier Responsibility Code, reinforcing mountain policies, and warning, educating, or, when necessary, removing guests whose conduct creates danger. Mountain Safety staff communicate with Ski Patrol and other mountain departments by two-way radio, assist guests, and help maintain the mountain's safety infrastructure. Employees must ski regularly and be able to work safely across the mountain in varying conditions.
