About The Position

The Motor Vehicle Direct Client Service Specialist position is based in Bennington and is responsible for customer service and examiner work for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Duties include conducting road and CDL written examinations. Additionally, the incumbent will process registrations, license renewals, new licenses, duplicates, non-driver identifications, and proper calculation and collection of fees. This is not a remote position and work will take place within DMV offices. This is a temporary position and it is anticipated this position will work approximately 40 hours per week for seven (7) months.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in a customer or client service role such as retail, hospitality or government that included significant public contact and regular use of computer programs.
  • OR Four (4) or more months of work experience in the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in licensing or registration meeting proficiency standards set by the Department.
  • Agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation (criminal, financial, and traffic records checks).
  • Proficiency in license or registration.
  • Proficiency in 2 or more of the job duties referenced on the matrix for a minimum of 4 months showing proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting road and CDL written examinations.
  • Processing registrations, license renewals, new licenses, duplicates, and non-driver identifications.
  • Calculating and collecting fees.
  • Serving customers promptly and efficiently while maintaining a minimum production level of 3+ transactions per hour with a 1% or less error rate.
  • Performing job duties within several different units possibly in the same day.
  • Traveling to other offices with minimal notice to assist when staffing shortages occur and various scheduled hours.
  • Verifying vehicle identification numbers.
