About The Position

The Motor Vehicle Examiner II will be part of the South Burlington DMV team, working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role involves issuing various licenses and permits, including Commercial Driver's Licenses, and administering written and road tests. Additionally, the position provides assistance with vehicle registrations, renewals, and general customer support. The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently, making sound decisions, demonstrating strong attention to detail, delivering excellent customer service, and accurately handling and processing large sums of money. This is an in-person temporary position at the South Burlington DMV, anticipated to work up to 40 hours per week for 7 months, Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 4:30pm. Applicants must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation, which may include criminal, financial, and traffic records checks.

Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years of work experience that includes public contact functions
  • Ability to work well independently and make sound decisions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to handle and process large sums of money accurately
  • A current, valid driver's license
  • Vision correctable to 20/40 (Snellen Test) in both eyes, with normal color perception and field of vision
  • A valid Commercial driver's license with all endorsements is required within one (1) year of employment
  • Agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation (may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks)
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (rain, wintery slippery roads etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task and remain on task to complete daily schedule
  • Considerable human relations skills are required to deal with confused, frustrated, nervous, upset, or hostile applicants
  • Ability to carry heavy objects of up to 50 pounds
  • Wear a uniform during work hours
  • Private means of transportation may be required
