About The Position

The Motor Vehicle Direct Client Service Specialist will assist the public by phone, mail, and electronic communication with DMV services. Responsibilities include reviewing, verifying, and processing applications for motor vehicle registrations, driver's licenses, and reinstatements, ensuring accuracy and completeness. The role also includes providing clear and accurate information to the public, maintaining accountability for fees and audits, completing weekly reports, managing office supply inventory, and researching transactions conducted at all DMV offices. Regular interaction with the public and handling a variety of applications are key parts of this position. This is not a remote position and work will take place within DMV offices. This is a temporary position and it is anticipated this position will work approximately 40 hours per week for seven (7) months.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in a customer or client service role such as retail, hospitality or government that included significant public contact and regular use of computer programs.
  • Four (4) or more months of work experience in the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in licensing or registration meeting proficiency standards set by the Department.
  • Agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation.
  • Proficiency in license or registration.
  • Proficiency in 2 or more of the job duties referenced on the matrix for a minimum of 4 months showing proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public by phone, mail, and electronic communication with DMV services.
  • Review, verify, and process applications for motor vehicle registrations, driver's licenses, and reinstatements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide clear and accurate information to the public.
  • Maintain accountability for fees and audits.

  • Perform several job duties within several different units possibly in the same day.
  • Travel to other offices with minimal notice to assist when staffing shortages occur and various scheduled hours.
  • Serve customers promptly and efficiently while maintaining the minimum production level of 3+ transactions per hour with a 1% or less error rate.
