About The Position

Valiant Integrated Services is seeking skilled CAT III Mossi linguists to provide interpretation and translation services in support of ongoing and new U.S. operations and mission requirements. The role includes transcription and idiomatic translation of non-technical material between English and Mossi, with correct syntax and expression, in support of military interrogations, intelligence collection, and other operational missions.

The linguist provides cultural and ethnic context for translations, interpretations, and transcriptions, including expert opinions about the likely meaning or intent of statements that may have multiple valid interpretations. The role also involves document exploitation: scanning, researching, and analyzing foreign-language documents and intercepted data for key information, identifying information that meets military information requirement list criteria, and contributing to reports. Translations may need to be supplemented with information relevant to professional fields such as medicine, science, engineering, and law. Native proficiency is preferred but not required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• At least two years of interpretation and translation experience.
• Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) level 3 in both the target language and English.
• Document exploitation skills.
• In-depth geopolitical knowledge.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to understand the essentials of speech in a standard dialect and accurately follow conversations between educated native speakers, radio broadcasts, news stories, oral reports, some oral technical reports, and public addresses on non-technical subjects.
• Ability to produce idiomatic translations of non-technical material between English and the target language using correct syntax and expression.
• Ability to interpret and translate colloquial and slang words and phrases.
• Ability to conduct consecutive and accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation of ongoing conversations, activities, and intelligence activities to and from the target language.
• Ability to accurately provide cultural and ethnic context and advise on the cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents.
• Ability to accurately perform document exploitation by scanning, researching, and analyzing foreign-language documents for intelligence information and identifying and extracting components meeting military information requirement list criteria.
• Must hold an active Top Secret security clearance and be able to obtain SCI.
• Must be able to pass a polygraph and a CI Focus Interview.
