About The Position

Bezos Academy is hiring a Montessori Assistant Teacher (internally titled Assistant Teacher II) for its Everett–Downtown preschool. The role supports lead teachers in developing and implementing a program that promotes each child’s cognitive, language, emotional, social, and physical development. The school is part of a multi-state network serving under-resourced communities with Montessori-inspired preschool at no cost to families. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, benefits-eligible, non-exempt/hourly position. School schedules generally fall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with staggered start and end times totaling no more than eight hours per day. The specific schedule is determined with the school leader according to staff, classroom, and community needs. Compensation is $26–$36 per hour (approximately $54,000–$74,000 annually); estimated starting compensation is $29–$32 per hour and varies with experience and qualifications. The upper third of the range is typically reserved for experienced employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. The position requires a Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE-accredited institution. Candidates without one may be hired provisionally and must obtain it within two years of their start date to remain in the role. They may elect to pursue the Bezos Academy Montessori Credential Program at no cost or another MACTE-accredited program at their own expense. Program participation is voluntary and unpaid, except that regular work hours overlapping with program activities are paid; eligible scheduled breaks remain paid.
