About The Position
The Monitor Technician observes, documents, and reports cardiac rhythms of patients of all ages, from infancy through geriatric, on telemetry. The role also performs Unit Secretary responsibilities, including general clerical functions that support efficient and effective processing of information and communication. The position reports to the Director of Emergency Services.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of a dysrhythmia course for monitor technicians.
- Completion of a medical terminology course or at least 6 months of experience working in a healthcare setting.
- At least 6 months of acute care hospital experience on a telemetry unit.
- Prior experience working as a telemetry or monitor technician.
- Prior experience working as a unit secretary.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire.
